Exodus From Hunger: We Are Called to Change the Politics of Hunger

Exodus from Hunger Exodus from Hunger WJK Press

David Beckmann

Westminster John Knox Press, 2010

Beckmann and the organization which he leads, Bread for the World, won the World Food Prize this year for their work in reducing hunger on the planet.

In his new book, he shares his views on efforts towards that goal the problems that still hinder it and the calling of Christians to respond.  He also suggests plans for action which will give hope and food to millions in need.

"Though tremendous improvements in health and education have helped slow the epidemic of global hunger in recent decades, more needs to be done to help lift people out of poverty, says Beckmann....But he also shows how no country has made gains in staunching hunger without government antipoverty programs. Beckmann offers a multifaceted solution to domestic poverty.... This book will be appreciated by church groups eager to bolster their charitable outreach, especially since it includes several inspiring vignettes of ordinary Christians doing extraordinary things to help stop hunger...." - Publishers Weekly Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
